BERMODOL additives are polyurethane based associative thickeners and can be used to modify rheological properties in paint and aid in dispersing pigments.

The BERMODOL PUR range of polyurethane-based associative thickeners has been developed to enable paint manufacturers to formulate their paints to suit market preferences on viscosity, brushing resistance, hiding power, levelling, consistency and spatter-free application.

Since they are associative thickeners, they are highly dependent on their interactions with other ingredients in the formula, including binders, surfactants, dispersants and pigment particles.

The hydrophobic groups in BERMODOL PUR interact with other hydrophobic groups or surfaces resulting from components present in the paint. They also interact with one another, contributing to an increase in viscosity.
