BERMOCOLL
additives are cellulose ethers (Ethyl Hydroxy
Ethyl Cellulose) and are used as thickeners, stabilisers
and water retaining agents for Water Based Paints
and Cement Paints. They are available in a wide
range of viscosities.
BERMOCOLL

BERMOCOLL
EBS stands for Enhanced Bio-Stability:
Cellulose ethers are attacked
with different intensity by micro-organisms and enzymes.
The resulting effect is a decrease in viscosity due
to the reduction in the degree of polymerisation. BERMOCOLL
EBS is modified along its cellulosic backbone to make
it more resistant to enzymatic attacks than most other
water soluble gums and polymeric materials. The addition
of a preservative prevents bacterial growth during storage.
BERMOCOLL EBS grades are available in viscosities ranging
from medium to high.

BERMOCOLL
FQ: for delayed hydration
BERMOCOLL FQ grades provide delayed
hydration, which results in exceptional flexibility in handling
and control of the solubilisation rate.
Hydrophobically
Modified Cellulose Ether (Associative Cellulosic Thickner)
BERMOCOLL
EHM is an associative,
hydrophobically modified cellulose ether (EHEC) that combines
water-phase thickening with a hydrophobic association with
other ingredients in the paint. This means that the final
paint properties can be affected to a greater extent than
with conventional cellulosics alone. BERMOCOLL EHM builds
viscosity differently than traditional cellulose ethers.
Since
the ICI viscosity will be higher than with the same relative
quantity of conventional BERMOCOLL, resulting in enhanced
brushing viscosity and better film build. Levelling is also
improved, since at lower shear rates, viscosity is usually
lower with BERMOCOLL EHM. Due to this, it is possible to make
a paint which will finish the job in just SINGLE COAT. It
also has a low DP and hence a low elasticity, leading to excellent
spatter resistance. Finally, its enzyme resistance is the
same as for the EBS grades.
